BAM
Technologies has been working with the United States Air Force for the past five
years to develop and support an enterprise-wide Education and Training Management
System.
Due to Air Force outsourcing and privatization efforts, Air Force Education Centers
began to restructure, requiring a re-evaluation of functional and business processes.
The Air Force Automated Education Management System (AFAEMS) was developed in response
to Education Center requests to provide an improved information system capability
to perform mission essential functions, especially those involving the inherently
governmental oversight of tuition assistance management for the worldwide operations.
AFAEMS enabled the newly restructured and leaner workforce to adapt to an increase
demand in customer service delivery methodologies.
The Air Force Automated Education Management System (AFAEMS) is a “Total Force”
education management system designed to maintain consistency and education program
continuity for base education services centers and Air Force members, as well as
to keep abreast of changing policy and technology with our military and civilian
partners. AFAEMS is the standardized Air Force Education Management System and has
been registered in the Federal Registry as the system of record for course enrollment
data. AFAEMS is a centralized web-based application managed at the Air Force level.
AFAEMS was developed as an enterprise application using MS SQL Server 2000 and Microsoft
.NET Framework.
The student web-based extension of AFAEMS is the Air Force Virtual Education Center
(AFVEC), which is geared to Personnel Services Delivery (PSD) to include many self-service
features and a versatile content management system for information sharing between
organizations and Airmen. AFVEC is a Top – 10 GCSS-AF self-service resource accessed
by Airmen using Reduced Sign On (RSO) via the AF Portal from any computer on the
Internet. AFVEC provides members a total view of their education record with links
to external systems like CCAF’s Student Progress Report (Web PR).

Airmen will soon have a new development Web site portal designed to meet all of
their career development needs, allowing them to navigate different aspects of their
time in service from their desktop computers, Air Force officials here said. My
Enlisted Development Plan, or MyEDP, is designed as the Air Force's cradle-to-grave
enlisted developmental tool.
From their first day of duty to their last, enlisted Airmen will enjoy features
of the site designed to provide standardization in every aspect of their career
progression. "MyEDP is a major force development technology step for our enlisted
force," said Maj. Kirk Phillips, chief of senior leader information technology operational
support. "We've applied dynamic Internet technology to leverage what we currently
have in place to quickly provide robust self-service capabilities to our Airmen
across the globe through the Air Force Portal."
